KamAZ and GAZ will deliver e-bus to Moscow
Following the results of two auctions, the two largest Russian automanufacturers KamAZ and Group GAZ were recognized as winners in the supply of electric buses to Moscow. The city land transit operator Mosgortrans will conclude with each of them a contract for the supply of 100 units of the world's most modern electric buses with the obligation of 15-year warranty service and installation of 62 ultra-fast charges. The cost of each contract is 6.35 billion rubles ($101 million). The first delivery will be in September 2018. Another lot for the supply of 100 electric buses will be announced in December 2018.
"For Moscow, environmental sustainability and improvement of the quality of life for Muscovites are of the highest importance today. Last year, the Mayor commissioned the launch of environmentally friendly vehicles - electric buses. Before that, individual models were tested during the last 2 years. After the delivery of the first 300 electric buses, Moscow will enter the top-5 mega-cities of the world by their number. Then it is planned to receive 300 units annually in 2019-2020. Since 2021, the city will only buy electric buses instead of diesel buses", - tells the Press office of the Department of Transport and Road Infrastructure Development of Moscow.
Electric buses will be low-floor and will be comfortable for low-mobility passengers. The capacity of each bus is at least 85 people. The vehicles will be equipped with climate control systems, CCTV and satellite navigation, USB-chargers for mobile devices, and free Wi-Fi. Moreover, ultra-fast charging stations will be supplied to the city - the replenishment of the electric bus energy reserve will take 3-6 minutes.
The design of the city’s electric bus will be maintained in the brand style of the Moscow Transport.
